There are 3 ways a student can be seen by the school counselor:
1. Teacher referral (social/emotional issues or behaviors are affecting student's ability to learn)
2. Parent referral (please use a link above to submit a referral for school counseling services)
3. Student can self-refer

Family Resource Center

Family Resource Center

The Family Resource Center connects Capistrano Unified families with practical school and community support—information and materials from educational, social-service, and mental-health partners, plus year-round parent workshops.

Walk in Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. at the CUSD Education Center lobby, 33122 Valle Rd, San Juan Capistrano.

Language support is available in English and Spanish, with Farsi upon request.

For assistance or to ask about upcoming workshops, contact our Family Resource Center Liaison, Sonia Moser, at (949) 234-5597 or somoser@capousd.org. Services are free and welcoming to all CUSD families.

Second Step


Second Step is the district approved curriculum adopted by CUSD in support of student's Social-Emotional Learning.
 
Providing a base for Social-Emotional learning for students is one way CUSD is committed to supporting student success and the "Vision of a CUSD Graduate".

CUSD School Counseling Program Mission Statement
The mission of Capistrano Unified School District School Counselors is to provide a comprehensive counseling program that supports the whole child. School Counselors will focus on the needs, interests, and issues related to social-emotional, academic, and college/career development of all students through a multi-tiered system of support. School Counselors will advocate, collaborate and facilitate actions that promote a positive school climate, provide an opportunity for all students to access their education and achieve personal and academic success to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
