The School Counseling Program strives to provide opportunities so that every student will acquire the social-emotional, academic, and career skills to reach their fullest educational potential and successfully manage their lives as healthy, responsible, competent and productive citizens who respect themselves and others.
 
CUSD School Counseling Program Mission Statement
The mission of Capistrano Unified School District School Counselors is to provide a comprehensive counseling program that supports the whole child. School Counselors will focus on the needs, interests, and issues related to social-emotional, academic, and college/career development of all students through a multi-tiered system of support. School Counselors will advocate, collaborate and facilitate actions that promote a positive school climate, provide an opportunity for all students to access their education and achieve personal and academic success to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world.

HOW TO SEE THE SCHOOL COUNSELOR?

HOW TO SEE THE SCHOOL COUNSELOR?

There are 3 ways a student can be seen by the school counselor:
1. Teacher referral (social/emotional issues or behaviors are affecting student's ability to learn)
2. Parent referral (please call the main office or email directly)
3. Student can self-refer
 
*With any referral, if there is an urgent need, students will be seen immediately.

MTSS FOCUS: CLEAR EXPECTATIONS
 
What is MTSS?
CUSD is making a commitment to increase the social emotional, behavior, and academic support for all of our young people. We call this focused approach to organizing and providing support: “Multi-tiered System of Supports” or “MTSS.”
 
Clear Expectations:
We are emphasizing the importance of clear expectations as part of our “behavior” support for all students. When schools and families establish and communicate clearly defined expectations for behavior, all students benefit.
